In the sessions you will be able to share what issues you are encountering. You will be able to get specific on the help that you would like to receive. From the information given on the initial assessment and the help you desire, your therapist will develop a treatment plan. Treatment goals are then determined by you and your therapist. After these are determined, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get to work.
Treatment goals are challenging and will require effort and work. This is a normal part of the process. They may be likened to a visit to the doctor’s office. Some visits are painful, others not so much but all visits require taking that first step of facing something that may be unpleasant and putting forth the effort to work through it.
In a sense therapy is like when one starts an exercise program. At first it is painful and every muscle in your body hurts. Then as the body adjusts to exercising it becomes easier and comes more naturally. Therapy at first may seem difficult but as goals are reached and using strategies comes more naturally, it becomes fruitful.
